HAZWOPER Certification
Certification training for HAZWOPER, which is the acronym for Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response, was developed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), U.S. government's main federal unit tasked to enforce safety and health legislation.
This was developed to protect individuals whose jobs or businesses expose them to the perilous environment of uncontrolled hazardous wastes. The training covers the following subject matters: hazardous materials' nature and associated risks; recognition of hazardous substances; response implementation; containment and control procedures; personal protective equipment; and materials and decontamination procedures.
